The Potential for Energy Technology - The Brainstorm
Can Asia’s economic growth be led by energy technology development?
The third Energy Opportunities brainstorm took place during Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW).
For Asia to meet its rising energy demands and to produce energy in an environmentally, socially, and economically responsible way, the continent needs to leverage the full power of innovation.
With Asia’s population estimated to reach five billion people by 2050, comes an unprecedented demand for energy. Our belief in technology is not limited to its role in improving energy systems or monitoring usage, there is a faith that technology will help us redesign our lives and in doing so recalibrate our energy demands.
The question for many is whether Asia can couple its lead in economic growth with a leading role in energy technology development.
The discussion, which saw guests come up with innovative ideas and solutions, was hosted by Squawk Box anchor Geoff Cutmore and is broadcast internationally on CNBC as part of the Energy Opportunities series of global brainstorms.
On-air and online, Energy Opportunities, is the platform for a world-wide brainstorm, developing ideas to create a less carbon intensive world.
