The Future of European Energy - The Brainstorm

The second Energy Opportunities brainstorm took place in London on September 19th and explored ‘The Future of European Energy’.

Europe is currently weathering an economic storm but while the sovereign debt crisis dominates today’s headlines it will be the rise of Asia, combined with the continent’s brewing demographic and energy challenges, that will write the headlines of the future.

On 15 December 2011, the European Commission adopted the Communication "Energy Roadmap 2050" in which the EU reiterated its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 80-95% below 1990 levels by 2050.

In the second Energy Opportunities brainstorm of 2012 the attendees examined what actions policy makers, businesses and individuals can take to ensure that Europe not only meets these targets but explores the full range of energy options available to achieve self-sufficiency and economic prosperity.
